Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Landscape Geotechnical Engineer to join our award winning team in Amman, Jordan. This position will be responsible for the delivery of geotechnical stability components for landfill design and dumpsite remediation projects. The role will focus on supporting the landfill design team to ensure that designs are safe, stable and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Performing slope and veneer stability as well as settlement analyses to inform and support landfill designs and dumpsite closures.

Designing geotechnical structures such as retaining walls, foundations,Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls, etc.

Preparing technical drawings, design calculations, design reports, and specifications related to geotechnical components of landfill design.

Plan and oversee ground investigations as well as the evaluation of results to inform geotechnical designs.

Ensuring regulatory compliance with both local and international regulations and/or guidelines (across various regions including the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, Africa, etc.).

Ability to provide construction oversight for landfill related works such as earthworks and liner installations.

Ability to contribute broader components of landfill design such as lining and capping systems, leachate management systems, landfill gas systems, etc.

Hydrogeological modelling and/or assessment experience would be advantageous.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include at-least 8+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering and related fields involving landfill stability assessments, partnered with a Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in Geotechnical, Civil or Geological Engineering or a related fi eld (Master’s preferred). A professional engineering registration / chartership would be advantageous.

Furthermore, you should demonstrate:

Strong understanding of soil mechanics, geosynthetics, and slope stability relating to landfills

Proficiency with geotechnical modeling tools (e.g., GeoStudio/SLOPE/W, SEEP/W,Plaxis, GEO5). Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and GIS would be advantageous.

Ability to interpret lab/field geotechnical data

Excellent technical writing and communication ability

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail

Ability to work independently as well as within a team of engineers across various office locations

Knowledge of key landfi ll design criteria and relevant international regulations
