NPD Textile Intern - Summer

Fenner Precision Polymers has an exciting internship opportunity with the Fenner New Product Textile Engineering Team at Manheim/Lititz, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for product/process/testing needs for the textile product category.

As part of the New Product Development Team, you will …….

S/he will be responsible for collaborating with various departments to:

Conduct lab testing on technical textiles according to product development needs

3D model new fixtures or product models to enhance product understanding

Learn components and processes of rapier looms

Technical documentation:

Updating specs to new format

Product validation – mechanical properties like tensile, tear, EPI, PPI, weight, etc.

3D modeling of weave patterns

R&D projects

Alternative fabrics – quartz, MWPE, etc. – applications, testing

Core Competencies Required

Demonstrated ability to….

3D model in Solidworks

Record and interpret measured properties of lab tests

Proven skills in…

Mechanical engineering principles – stress, strain, coefficient of friction, etc.

Statistical analysis of test results

Working knowledge of…

Basic lab equipment and software – MTS, hot presses, Microsoft package, etc.

Novel problem solving

Education and/or Relative Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of college in a related field.
