Kforce has a client that is seeking a PostgreSQL DBA in Hopkins, MN.Overview:We're looking for a seasoned PostgreSQL Database Administrator who knows their way around complex database ecosystems and can help drive our modernization efforts. The ideal candidate is fluent in PostgreSQL internals, confident implementing encryption at rest, and has hands-on experience migrating legacy Oracle databases into a modern PostgreSQL environment.Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and administer PostgreSQL databases across on-prem, cloud, or hybrid environments
Configure, manage, and validate PostgreSQL encryption at rest, including native methods and infrastructure-level encryption
Lead and execute Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration projects, including schema conversion, data transformation, PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL refactoring, and optimization
Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization
Implement HA/DR solutions and backup/restore approaches
Monitor database health and troubleshoot performance, locking, and stability issues
Partner with application teams on data modeling and SQL validation
Ensure compliance with security, auditing, and regulatory requirements
Produce documentation, runbooks, and best practices Skills
5+ years as a PostgreSQL DBA
Experience implementing PostgreSQL encryption at rest
Experience with cloud-native PostgreSQL deployments
Strong hands-on Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration experience
Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, WAL, partitioning, and replication
Familiarity with security best practices
Linux, shell scripting, automation tools
Strong SQL skills
Strong communicator able to simplify complex concepts
Comfortable leading cross-functional migration efforts
Organized, detail-oriented, strong multitasking ability Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Oracle GoldenGate, DMS, ora2pg, or migration tooling
Experience in high-availability distributed systems
Exposure to containerized or K8s-based deployments
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for database operations
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
