Description:

We are seeking a Mid-Level MySQL and PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to ensure the reliability, security, and optimal performance of our database environments. This role will support application teams, automate database operations, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot complex issues in mission-critical production systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with both MySQL and PostgreSQL across cloud and on-premises platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and manage Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases across Linux, Windows, and AWS environments.

Build and maintain new databases, servers, and related infrastructure (cloud and on-prem).

Manage replication, clustering, and high availability setups to maximize uptime.

Perform database performance tuning, root-cause analysis, and optimization.

Apply Quarterly Patch Set Updates (PSUs) for Oracle and MySQL on AWS EC2 and other platforms.

Execute database upgrades, patches, migrations, and refreshes.

Support AWS DMS migration initiatives and database modernization projects.

Monitor performance metrics, troubleshoot failures, and resolve bottlenecks.

Configure and validate database backups, ensuring compliance with SLAs.

Support monthly SAFER and SMS baseline activities, including snapshot creation.

Conduct routine maintenance: index rebuilds, statistics updates, and integrity checks.

Troubleshoot slow queries, deadlocks, and performance problems using native tools.

Manage users, roles, and permissions while maintaining strong security controls.

Implement and monitor security features including encryption, auditing, and vulnerability remediation.

Participate in failover and disaster recovery (DR) testing.

Provide on-call production support (primarily SFI-related).

Perform AWS R&D for automation, improvements, and new initiatives.

Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, maintenance, and operational procedures.

Generate performance, growth, and usage reports for leadership.

Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams across the organization. Required Qualifications

Certifications in Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL database administration.

Strong experience managing databases on Linux and Windows platforms.

Solid understanding of AWS database services (RDS, EC2-hosted databases).

Expertise in database installation, configuration, optimization, tuning, and maintenance.

Hands-on experience with backup/restore strategies, DR planning, and failover testing.

Ability to analyze execution plans and optimize SQL queries.

Strong knowledge of database security practices (encryption, access control, auditing).

Experience supporting production environments with on-call responsibilities.
