POSITION TITLE: Project Engineer

REPORTING TO: Senior Engineer

LOCATION/DIVISION: Elrod Engineering LLC – Smyrna, TN

WHO YOU ARE

Elrod Engineering is looking for an outgoing, fun-loving, self-motivated Project Engineer for our Smyrna, TN office to grow with our expanding business. We’re looking for an entry-level structural engineer possessing their EI/EIT. You will work primarily in our Building Design group, and as part of our team will have the opportunity to work on signage, architectural elements, and structural projects for the firm, or with our Philadelphia office, Cooke Brown, as needs arise. You will be involved mainly in the design aspects of a project—engineering calculations, design analysis, CAD work, modeling, and final document/report preparation as part of a project team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist senior engineers and CAD designers in both engineering and drafting needs

Work with internal staff to ensure the design is safe and cost-effective

Prepare basic design calculations, drawings, and reports with minimal supervision.

Interest in working with a firm that has a diverse portfolio of projects

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Degree-structured engineer with EI/EIT designation (required)

0-3 years of structural design experience (required)

Design experience with residential and commercial buildings or signage (a plus)

Experience with AUTOCAD (Required – most recent release preferred)

Experience with RISA 3D finite analysis software (preferred)

Experience with REVIT (a plus)

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) (required)

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Solid design skills for building components

Comfort in working with a team to determine needs and ensure projects are delivered on time and in budget

Able to work both independently on small projects and as part of a team on larger projects

Strong organizational skills

Problem-solving approach to all tasks

Ability to sit for long periods of time

Ability to report to the office for shifts in a timely and professional manner

Professional written and oral communication skills in English
