VP, Core Systems & Mainframe Security

About the Role

The Vice President of Core Systems and Security provides visionary leadership for the credit union's core technology platforms, infrastructure, and security operations. This executive role oversees system design, development, implementation, and integration across the enterprise, ensuring that technology solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Core Systems and Security department, setting strategic priorities and driving operational excellence.

Oversee all aspects of the credit union's core systems, hardware, software, and related integrations.

Execute departmental and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives that enhance efficiency, strengthen security, and support business growth.

Ensure compliance with NCUA, federal regulations, and internal policies and controls.

Evaluate and implement emerging technologies and vendor solutions to improve performance and reduce operational risk.

Manage the department's budget, resources, and vendor relationships to ensure optimal performance and cost effectiveness.

Foster a high-performing team through mentorship, collaboration, and professional development.

Lead cross-functional initiatives that advance digital transformation and elevate member experience.

Maintain 24/7 reliability of core systems and uphold the organization's standards of data security and business continuity.

Serve as a key strategic advisor to executive leadership on technology and security initiatives. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Information Technology and Information Security, including mainframe or core system security.

At least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity overseeing enterprise technology teams.

Proven experience managing vendors, budgets, and technology infrastructure at scale.

Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.

Willingness to travel periodically to regional locations and participate in industry events.
