PART TIME

PURPOSE:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and responsible intern to join our organization. In this position, you will enhance your educational experience through work experience in the areas of energy efficiency, demand response and distributed energy resource (DER) program management, renewable energy integration, utility regulatory processes, business process and program analysis, utility strategy, and business transformation.

THE JOB FUNCTION INCLUDES:

This list provides a general statement of duties to provide the intern with the opportunity to learn the standards within the industry and the cooperative. This list is not considered to be exhaustive and may be enhanced as processes change.

• Work with the Environmental Programs & Energy Conservation team to support administration of existing energy efficiency, demand response and DER programs and assist with reports, presentations, and compliance filings for regulatory bodies.

• Work with Strategy & Innovation team to create business process documentation for standardization and efficiency.

• Work on regulatory matters pending before the Maryland Public Service Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on a variety of topics core to the business of the Cooperative and essential to the interests of its customer-members.

• Prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet goals and deadlines.

• Be able to take direction, work under pressure, and operate as part of a team.

• Use written and verbal communication effectively.

• Be able to give and receive constructive feedback.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• The student must be a junior or senior in college pursuing a major in business, economics, government, engineering, or communications, plus a demonstrated interest in working with SMECO.

• The student must have working knowledge of technology in use in a professional office setting. This includes experience with or a willingness to learn Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software applications.

• Must be a United States Citizen.

• Must have the physical ability to perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the job which include, but are not limited to, walking, bending, sitting, lifting, and carrying loads averaging 25 pounds.

This position pays$18.00/hr.
