Job Summary:

The Database Administrator (DBA) / Junior Analyst will support the data management needs of Boulder Crest Foundation, Boulder Crest Institute and all affiliated network partners. This role is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing database systems, while also contributing to data analysis efforts to help the team make data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate will have foundational database administration experience and a keen interest in business analytics and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration (50-70%):

Maintain and monitor database systems (e.g., BigQuery, Neo4j, CloudSQL) to ensure optimal performance and uptime.

Perform database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.

Implement and enforce database security, including user roles, permissions, and access controls.

Troubleshoot database errors and optimize queries for performance.

Manage database upgrades, patches, and migrations.

Assist with developing and maintaining documentation for database architecture and procedures.

Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth integration between applications and databases.

Junior Data Analysis (30-50%):

Assist in designing reports, dashboards, and insights using tools such as Looker Studio, CoLab, Tableau and Boulder Crest Foundation's internal reporting platform.

Extract and transform data to provide meaningful analysis for business users.

Support the design and maintenance of data models and reports.

Identify trends and anomalies in data to assist in strategic decision-making.

Work with stakeholders to define reporting requirements and ensure accurate data delivery.

Document and maintain reports and queries for future use.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Completed or currently pursuing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

1-3 years of experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).

Basic knowledge of SQL, database scripting, and query optimization.

Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, Looker Studio, Excel)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Basic understanding of data security principles and best practices.

Team-oriented with a desire to learn and grow within the role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with ETL tools and data pipelines.

Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., GCP and AWS) and cloud-based databases.

Familiarity with Python, R, or other programming languages used in analytics.

Knowledge of data visualization best practices.

Understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the Database Administrator is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. Work Environment:

Remote/Hybrid.

Standard business hours, with occasional after-hours availability for system maintenance or

emergency support.
