Excavation Estimator

We’re looking for an experienced Excavation Estimator to join our team — someone who’s detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about precision estimating in the construction industry.

Location: Carroll, OH

Salary Range: $70,000 – $100,000 (based on experience)

Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed project estimates including earthwork and utility takeoffs.

Meet and collaborate with clients, management, and other stakeholders to fully understand project needs and scope.

Contact subcontractors and vendors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing.

Create and submit complete bid packages, forms, and proposals.

Review all project documentation including addendums, plan changes, and clarifications.

Conduct site visits (online or in person) to assess potential challenges.

Provide all required breakdowns, allowances, labor rates, unit prices, and alternates.

Build and maintain strong client relationships; follow up on proposal status.

Transfer estimates to active projects in ProContractor and generate purchase orders post-award.

Assist in submittal processes and project transition meetings with leadership.

Participate in post-project evaluations to share lessons learned and improve future estimating accuracy.

Required Skills & Abilities

Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, ProContractor, Bluebeam, and reading blueprints/construction drawings.

Strong organizational, mathematical, and analytical skills.

In-depth understanding of earthwork and utility installation processes.

Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing project demands.

Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent on-the-job experience.

Valid driver’s license or state ID required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to traverse active worksites, bend, climb, stretch, and reach as needed.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull similar loads.

Comfortable working in various environments (dirt, concrete, fumes, loud noise, etc.).

Willingness to work extended hours and occasional Saturdays when required.
