Summary of the position
This position is responsible to Establish, promote and maintain a safe, accident free, healthy work environment.
Role and Responsibilities
Coordinating and Ensuring Health & Safety Committee will run on regular basis & effectively.
Maintenance of Emergency preparedness system.
Maintain health & safety as per Factories Act & Karnataka Factories Rules.
Ensuring availability of PPE, maintaining the accounts of purchase, issue and stock of PPEs.
Complete compliance with ISO and OSHAS 18001:2007 Standards.
Reviews on a regular basis of Workmen’s Compensation Insurance and Plant Safety Records and make recommendations for improvement.
Ensure health and Safety audits & action plan on regular intervals / schedules
Conduct ESH trainings on regular interviews as per the SHE Competency matrix
Conducting periodical Safety inspections based on severity.
Providing for EHS orientation, creating awareness and updates on latest trends to all employees.
Conducting risk analysis, mitigation & preparing HIRA.
Employee engagement in safety activities.
Maintaining records periodically for incidents/accidents/near miss, display incident/accident/near miss charts and take preventive action for accidents.
Conducting periodic fire fighting Mock Drills.
Formulates necessary work permits, policies and procedures to be followed by company or plant personnel in compliance with local, state, and central rules and regulations.
Selecting appropriate safety equipment and conducting safety programs.
Reports on the performance of the Environmental Management System, chairs management review of the Environmental Management System as a basis for Continuous Improvement.
Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, law suits, and insurance investigations.
Compiles and submits accidents reports required by regulatory agencies.
Maintaining Statutory records/registers related to Health and Safety.
Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences and exhibitions.
Maintains safety files and records.
Facilitate departmental safety meetings.
Schedule/ Coordinate third party Health and Safety audit.
Verify, maintain & follow up both internal & external audit finding corrective actions and monitor/follow up on continuous improvement activities.
Maintain records as per the Environment & Health & Safety requirements.
First Aid, Ambulance availability and OHC.
Monitor Contract Labour Health and Safety.
Horizontal deployment of Safety initiatives across the factory.
Drive EHS manual and implementation as per guidelines & ensure SHE KPIs (Leading Indicators & Lagging Indicators) on track
Any other work assigned by management from time to time.
Implementation of contractor safety protocols.
Routine Inspection is responsibility of Safety Executive, and this is carried to ensure focused inspection.
Ensure Gemba walk to be done as per the checklist & plan (Ref. SHE Manual)

Qualification and Skill Set
Diploma in EHS Management / Diploma in Electrical safety / BE-Mech/Electrical( Central labour/ regional instate, Government Polytechnic, Bellary. Rajeev Gandhi Institute of Steel technology, Bellary. IIISM)
Strong EHS background that may include knowledge of any manufacturing industry
Four (4+) years of experience in Safety, Health and Environment
Must possess moderately advanced usage of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint); must be/become proficient.
Speaking and writing in kannada language Mandatory.
