Description
Under the guidance of the Director of Recreation and Director of Kid Care, assist in the development, planning, instruction, training, coordination, and administering of recreational, educational, social and cultural programs for Andover Recreation Division with focus on a state licensed afterschool program. Provide administrative support including customer service, program registration, inventory control, and other office responsibilities as necessary.
Responsibilities
• Assist with planning, coordination, and implementation of afterschool program curriculum at our 5 afterschool sites, and Discovery Zone vacation weeks.
• Provide oversight of the Bancroft Elementary state licensed afterschool program and responsible for all related licensing paperwork and onsite paperwork as required.
• Plan, coordinate and implement program curriculum and direct the full-day summer program for children grades K-6.
• Respond to inquiries from program participants, parents, and the general public.
• Attend and assist in planning monthly Kid Care staff meetings.
• Assist in the recruitment, hiring, supervising, ongoing training, and evaluation of afterschool program staff and summer program staff.
• Assists in the planning and development of school age and preschool programming to further divisional growth.
• Responsible for managing supply orders, maintaining budget compliance, and ensuring prompt distribution to all Kid Care sites.
• Assist with major department programs and special events.
• Perform related administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Ability to develop and instruct diverse recreational and educational programs for ages 2.9 to 12 years.
• Ability to relate to and instruct preschoolers and early elementary school aged children with diverse recreational, emotional, and social needs.
• Ability to organize and implement recreational programs for a variety of age groups.
• Ability to utilize various computer programs to produce reports, marketing materials, and other documentation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, and the public.
Supplemental Information
Education and Experience
Duties require a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Elementary Education, Psychology, Sociology, or related field plus experience supervising recreational, educational, social, or cultural programs; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Seasonal and Afterschool program staff.
PHYSICAL ELEMENTS
• Duties require frequent strenuous physical action and participation in outdoor activities, subject to inclement weather and extremes in temperature.
• Duties require frequent lifting for program set-ups.
• Regular use of office equipment requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
• Involves attendance at evening, weekend, and holiday events.

• September – June 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• June – August 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Grade: IE16
Standard Work Week: 36.25 hours
