We are singularly focused on designing, building, and operating a fleet of multi-purpose commercial planetary rovers to extend and enhance humanity’s presence in the solar system. We are seeking motivated, creative, and exceptional people to join our world-class team.
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support our NASA Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) program. This role will play a key part in coordinating system-level activities, verification, and compliance across multiple areas as LTV efforts ramp up alongside the FLIP program. The Systems Engineer will act as a bridge between engineering, certification, and program management to ensure alignment with NASA standards, rapid development cycles, and mission-level objectives.
*Employment in this role is contingent on Astrolab being selected as a winner of NASA’s LTVS program.*
What you'll do:
The certification team is responsible for evaluating each of the requirements identified in NASA’s LTV System Requirements Document (SRD) and:
Developing Verification Events to provide verification of each requirement
Establishing and maintaining linkages from each requirement to the key design parameters as the design evolves
Assisting the design team in meeting with NASA to clarify interpretations of the requirements
Evaluating Interface Requirements Documents to identify interface verification methods and documenting them
The Systems Engineer will support these activities and work closely with the Certification Lead, who oversees the overall performance of this effort, reporting to the Program Manager for the LTV program.
Key Responsibilities
Support hands-on system-level integration and verification activities
Coordinate requirement tracking, compliance documentation, and performance validation
Engage with engineering and certification teams to maintain design traceability and alignment
Apply experience with NASA programs, standards, and handbooks
Understand each of NASA’s SRD requirements and document verification methods
Track and document the verification of each requirement
Analyze the 15 LTV performance metrics and collaborate with engineering to maintain a consistent chain of calculations
Document and track key parameters that trace system requirements into the design
Analyze interface requirements documents and establish verification methods
Use computer tools to publish and maintain verification records
Capture, report, and analyze quality objective data
Participate in management review meetings and internal or external audits
Manage documentation and train team members in this process
Support goals and objectives of AS9100
What you'll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
