Job Title: Web Development Manager (not a ppl manager)
Location: Onsite – Washington, DC (4 days/week, 1 remote day chosen by the team)
Job Type: ~3 Month Contract-to-Hire (Candidates must be able to convert to FTE – No contract only candidates)
Compensation: $45.00 – $50.00 / Hourly / W2 (W2 candidates are Benefits eligible after 60 days)
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship Required
About the Role
A nationally recognized nonprofit organization is seeking a Web Development Manager to provide technical leadership and ensure the quality, scalability, and security of its web platform. This role involves guiding a development team, making architectural decisions, and collaborating with stakeholders to align technical efforts with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Make critical decisions about web platform architecture and design for scalability, performance, and security.
Review and maintain code quality, implement best practices, and enforce coding standards.
Provide technical direction and mentorship to the development team; resolve complex technical issues.
Evaluate and select technologies and tools to enhance the web platform.
Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely delivery and alignment with business requirements.
Communicate technical concepts and project status to non-technical stakeholders.
Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new technologies.
Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Website maintenance and coding accuracy. Consistent look and feel across all web pages
PHP development
WordPress (preferred)
Section 508 compliance
5+ years of experience
Oracle, MySQL, and Linux (nice to have)
Preferred Background
Strong leadership experience in managing and mentoring developers
Deep knowledge of software development practices, including coding, debugging, and system design
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Extensive experience in software development, ideally in senior or lead roles
Familiarity with compliance standards and modern web technologies
