Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) Subject Matter Expert (Remote)

Job Description

ComResource is looking for a Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) Subject Matter Expert.

We need someone to assist in leading a major enterprise migration from Tanzu PCF to GKE while providing deep technical guidance, architectural direction, and hands-on expertise.

Responsibilities:

Lead the migration of applications and APIs from Tanzu PCF to GKE

Define architecture, cluster design, networking, security models, and workload patterns

Evaluate current PCF workloads and determine the optimal GKE target state

Mentor teams on Kubernetes, containerization, service mesh, CI/CD, and GCP services

Build reusable templates, components, and standardized deployment patterns

Deliver workshops, training sessions, and architecture reviews

Refactor Java Spring Boot and Python applications for Kubernetes

Optimize container images, resource allocation, autoscaling, and observability

Troubleshoot platform, networking, and service-level issues within GKE

Integrate CI/CD pipelines and IaC workflows

Implement best practices for logging, monitoring, and alerting

Enforce secure configurations including Workload Identity, RBAC, and ingress controls

Work with InfoSec and infrastructure teams to ensure governance and compliance

Essentials:

8–12+ years in cloud-native development, DevOps, or platform engineering

Extensive hands-on GKE experience

Strong security practices: Workload Identity, RBAC, Network Policies, Secrets

Experience with Cloud Ops, Prometheus, Grafana

Expertise in Java Spring Boot and Python

Successful migrations from Tanzu PCF or similar PaaS platforms

Strong CI/CD experience (GitHub, Jenkins, Cloud Build, ArgoCD)

Excellent communication and mentoring skills

Desired:

Experience with large-scale cloud migrations

GCP certifications

Terraform or IaC experience

Knowledge of Istio or Anthos Service Mesh

Experience delivering technical training
