Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Software Developer to support a mission-critical application modernization effort.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby and Java, with hands-on experience migrating legacy applications to modern Java-based architectures.

This role requires on-site support at a government facility in Chantilly, VA and an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.

Key Responsibilities Analyze an existing Ruby-based application and design a migration strategy to Java Lead and execute the refactoring and redevelopment of application components from Ruby to Java Ensure functional parity, performance optimization, and security compliance throughout the migration Collaborate with government stakeholders, system architects, and other developers to support mission requirements Develop, test, and deploy Java applications in a secure, controlled environment Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues across legacy and modernized systems Produce technical documentation, including design artifacts and migration plans Adhere to government development standards, security policies, and best practices Required Qualifications Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph 10–15 years of professional software development experience Strong proficiency in Ruby and Java Demonstrated experience migrating or modernizing legacy applications Solid understanding of object-oriented design, software architecture, and system integration Experience working in classified, high-security environments Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex tasks Preferred Qualifications Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring or Spring Boot Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing Experience supporting intelligence community or federal government customers Knowledge of secure coding practices and application security standards
