Middle School Technology Instructor Job Description
Position Title: Computer Technology 8 Instructor Location: Middle School (Grades 6-8) Department: Career & Technical Education Reports To: CTE Director Position Type: Full-Time, 10-Month School Year
Position Summary
The Computer Technology 8 Teacher provides direct instruction in digital literacy, computer systems, coding, multimedia, and responsible technology use to 8th-grade students. The instructor promotes hands-on learning, fosters computational thinking, and prepares students for advanced high school pathways in computer science, IT, digital media, and engineering. The position includes instruction, assessment, classroom management, and collaboration with school staff to maintain a safe, productive, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Duties
• Teach technology-related subjects including:
• Digital literacy & online safety
• Computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases)
• Coding and programming basics
• Robotics, engineering, and design (where applicable)
• Internet research and media literacy
• Emerging technologies (AI, VR, 3D printing, etc., depending on school resources)
• Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based lessons that engage diverse learners.
• Incorporate project-based learning, collaboration, and real-world applications.
• Differentiate instruction to support students of varying abilities and learning styles.
Classroom & Student Management
• Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Teach and model responsible digital citizenship.
• Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and assess learning outcomes.
Collaboration & Professional Duties
• Maintain and troubleshoot classroom technology and lab equipment.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
• Participate in professional development to stay current with technology trends and best practices.
Qualifications
• Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Education, Technology Education, Instructional Technology, or related field preferred but not required .
• Certification: State teaching certification in Technology Education, CTE, or appropriate middle-level certification preferred but not required.
• Experience: Prior teaching experience at the middle or secondary level preferred ;experience with instructional technology and/or STEM programs.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of instructional software, coding/programming, computer hardware, and digital literacy. Excellent communication, organization, and classroom
management skills.

• Starting Salary is $48,500; negotiable based on education, certification and experience.
