Join Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division as a Senior Development Engineer and help shape the next generation of nonlinear and explicit finite element solvers.

You'll design cutting-edge algorithms, write high-quality code, and lead projects that impact industries worldwide.

You will work within the Product Development group, focusing on nonlinear implicit solvers in Marc and Nastran, and explicit solvers in Dytran.

Beyond coding, you'll lead projects from inception to delivery and mentor junior developers.

This hybrid position is based in Irvine, California.

Remote work may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Job Responsibilities * Develop advanced algorithms for nonlinear finite element (implicit and/or explicit) analysis.

* Design, implement, integrate, and test nonlinear solver enhancements across Marc, Nastran, and Dytran.

* Manage development projects and provide technical leadership.

* Collaborate with QA teams on benchmarking and certification for timely releases.

* Investigate and resolve defects in Nastran.

* Support application engineers with second-line technical assistance.

* Stay current with research and industry trends in structural dynamics and FE methods.

What You'll Bring Education & Experience: * MS + 8 years or PhD + 5 years in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Engineering, or related field is desirable * Exceptional PhD graduates with computational mechanics or applied math will be considered as well.

* Exposure or experience with modern software development practices a plus.

* Strong background in finite element methods and structural dynamics.

Technical Skills: * Programming in Fortran, C/C++, Python; familiarity with Unix/Windows.

* Experience with commercial FE codes (LS-Dyna, Abaqus, Nastran, Marc). * Knowledge of nonlinear analysis, contact modeling, parallel scaling (DMP/SMP), and GPUs.

Soft Skills: * Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management abilities.

* Ability to mentor, collaborate, and deliver under tight timelines.
