Construction Superintendent
Location: Long Beach, CA
Compensation: $100,000 - $180,000 + Ownership Potential
Our client, a highly respected General Contractor, is seeking an accomplished Construction Site Superintendent to join their team in Long Beach. This firm is well known for delivering high-quality construction projects across multiple sectors - including DSA regulated K-14 education, OSHPD/NCAI regulated healthcare, and many other institutional & commercial facilities.
Must Haves
Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial and public works construction.
Proven track record managing projects from ground-up through closeout.
Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and subcontractors.
Ability to interpret and enforce construction documents, specifications, and plans.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid California driver's license and clean driving record.
Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety practices.
Demonstrated ability to maintain project schedules and budgets.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Nice to Haves
Experience with K-14 or other public-sector projects (schools, civic, healthcare, etc.).
Proficiency with Procore and MS Project scheduling software.
Experience supervising self-performed work.
Background working with multi-prime contracts or DSA-regulated projects.
Familiarity with LEED or other sustainable building practices.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Degree or certification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Experience working on design-build or CM-at-Risk delivery methods.
Strong relationships with Southern California subcontractors and vendors.
Knowledge of public works compliance requirements, including prevailing wage and certified payroll.
Responsibilities
Lead all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
Develop, maintain, and update project schedules in collaboration with the project management team.
Monitor and enforce safety standards, ensuring a zero-incident jobsite culture.
Maintain quality control standards and ensure compliance with project specifications and codes.
Conduct daily site meetings and prepare detailed daily reports and progress photos.
Communicate effectively with owners, architects, consultants, inspectors, and subcontractors.
Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings for accuracy and coordination.
Track costs, quantities, and material usage to assist with project cost control.
Support the Project Manager with change order identification, evaluation, and documentation.
Ensure timely completion of punch list items and successful project closeout.
Foster a positive, proactive, and collaborative work environment for all team members.
