Process Engineer – Flare and Overpressure Relief Systems Location: Edmonton, Alberta Duration: 2 year contract (January 2026 – January 2028) Work Type: Onsite, full timeWe are seeking a senior level Process Engineer to provide technical assurance and process safety support for flare and overpressure relief systems within a major upgrader operation.

The role will focus on safeguarding critical process equipment, leading risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.Responsibilities include:PRV/PVSV sizing and overpressure relief evaluationsFlare system design and contractor guidanceFacilitation of PHAs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, Bowties, and other risk workshopsAssurance for pumps, tanks, and pressure vesselsFire, explosion, and dispersion modelling (FRED, PHAST or equivalent)Mentoring junior engineers and supporting commissioning/start up activitiesRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering7+ years of process safety/engineering experience in refining, upgrading, or petrochemicalsAPEGA P.Eng.

designation required, with ability to authenticate engineering workFamiliarity with HYSYS, Unisym, FlarenetStrong knowledge of API/ASME codes and standardsProven facilitation, communication, and leadership skills
