NWI Precision is currently seeking an experienced Quality Engineer.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for quality engineering, new product introduction, quality controls and supervision of outcomes to ensure compliance with drawing, specification and quality standard requirements.
They interact daily with both internal and external customers and suppliers to develop quality plans and perform root cause and corrective action functions.
They are a champion of continuous improvement towards zero defects.
Prepare, implement and maintain quality plans for production processes for new and existing products following an APQP or similar framework.
Work in conjunction with Engineering and Operations to ensure that required quality controls are implemented and followed.
Manage First Article Inspection Reporting (FAIR) processes, including submissions to customers and maintain change control verification of the FAI records.
Implement methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment.
Collect data and analyze failures, conduct RCA and implement corrective and preventive actions to respond to existing and potential manufacturing issues.
Collaborate with other stakeholders to recommend and implement corrective and preventative actions and monitor the effectiveness of the results.
Promote quality awareness throughout the organization and mentor other members of the quality team if required.
Responsible for continuous improvement activities and lean methods, to improve quality processes and procedures.
Support indirectly the qualification and auditing of new and existing vendors and supplier performance management activity.
Support Quality Inspectors in order to ensure products and processes comply with the relevant quality management system requirements.
Create and maintain company quality documentation such as quality standards and QA related reports.
Lead training sessions in support of those standards.
Assist with the management of the AS9100 Quality Management System, including conducting training and documentation reviews and audits.
Lead MRB teams to disposition, submit non-conforming requests to customers and vendors and work with respective peers on NCR dispositions.
Assist managers or senior leaders with KPI tracking/reporting and lead related Kaizen projects in a cross-functional setting.
University degree in mechanical, manufacturing or process engineering Minimum of 5 years related work experience in a tightly controlled quality environment Experience in aerospace/automotive or nuclear preferred Familiarity with AS 9100 / TS 16949 / N299 quality system requirements Experience in Lean and Six Sigma (Green or Black belt Certification is an asset) Strong knowledge of PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans preferred Excellent computer skills (MS Office – World, Excel) ERP exposure an asset Comprehensive group benefit plan including medical, dental & life insurance coverage Company contributions to retirement savings plan (RSP) Training, development & career planning Our policy is to provide equal employment opportunity to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national original, age, or disability.
