Job Description

Position Description: Summary:\tThe EEP Underwriter is responsible for evaluating mortgage loan applications to determine creditworthiness, compliance with both internal and agency guidelines, and overall risk.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

\tAnalyze and underwrite mortgage loan applications.

\tReview income, assets, credit reports, property appraisals, and all supporting documentation to assess borrower eligibility and risk.

\tEnsure loan files meet internal, agency, and regulatory requirements.

\tApply appropriate internal and FHA guidelines to make informed decisions on loan approvals, suspensions, or denials.

\tClearly document underwriting decisions, including conditions required for final approval or closing.

\tCommunicate underwriting decisions effectively to loan processors, correspondent lenders, and management.

\tAssist with clearing conditions and final approval processes, ensuring timely closings.

\tMaintain knowledge of current underwriting guidelines, mortgage industry trends, and regulatory changes.

\tParticipate in quality control reviews, audits, and training as needed.

\tContribute to a positive team environment with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and excellent customer service.

\tProficiency in loan origination software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience\tMinimum of 3 years of recent mortgage underwriting experience, including Conventional and FHA loans required. Experience underwriting non-QM and portfolio loans preferred.

An FHA direct endorsement (DE) designation is preferred.

Education A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

This position is bonus eligible.

$36.06 - $43.27 Hourly
