Job Description
About Fly Wright Drones: Fly Wright Drones is pioneering the next generation of heavy external lift technology. Founded by an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in construction and commercial helicopter operations (including 3,300+ hours PIC), our mission is to develop a drone capable of replacing helicopters in hazardous, quick-response, and cost-ineffective heavy-lift scenarios. We are currently developing a 32-motor heavy-lift droneāa project poised to revolutionize industrial and military applications.
We are seeking a talented Robotics Engineer to complete the final, critical programming necessary to bring our revolutionary prototype to market.
The Challenge & The Reward:
This is not a long-term development project; this is a final coding challenge for an expert. We need an engineer to prove the flight mathematics and complete core flight functions quickly.
Initial Goal: Program the flight controller for the prototype to achieve a precise Position and Altitude Hold (Cube Orange Flight Controller) for a specified duration.
Long-Term Scope: Once core flight is proven, the work expands into designing the production model, securing FAA certification, and developing systems for a commercial logging guard/dead hook system.
Compensation: Negotiated competitive wages/salary, promotions, and significant Stock Options/Equity within Fly Wright Drones.
Key Technical Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement algorithms for multirotor drones (specifically targeting 32-motor configuration).
Program and validate the Cube Orange Flight Controller to successfully perform Position Hold and Altitude Hold functions.
Conduct testing and debugging of flight control software to ensure stability, precision, and safety.
Collaborate directly with the founder (a helicopter pilot/industry expert) to ensure real-world operational functionality.
Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the production-ready heavy-lift drone system.
Required Experience & Skills:
Specialized Experience: Proven experience working with flight control systems and algorithms for multirotor drones (preference for heavy-lift systems).
Controller Knowledge: Direct experience with Cube Orange or advanced PX4/ArduPilot flight controllers is highly desirable.
Coding Proficiency: Strong background in relevant programming languages (e.g., C++/Python) for robotics and autonomous control.
Problem Solver: Ability to quickly and efficiently solve complex programming and control challenges with minimal supervision.
Attitude: Must be driven to see this critical project to completion and motivated by the significant equity potential.
If you are an engineer seeking a high-impact role with the chance to earn equity in a ground-breaking aviation company, contact us immediately.
