Overview
Our client is a large, well-established organization with a nationwide manufacturing and distribution footprint supporting complex supply chain and logistics operations. They are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead procurement strategy and execution across key logistics-related categories.
This role partners closely with operations, legal, and finance to optimize supplier performance, manage risk, and drive value across transportation and logistics spend.
Position Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will own sourcing strategy, supplier selection, and contract management for logistics categories including freight, fuel, trailers, and site-related logistics services and equipment. This individual will play a key role in standardizing sourcing practices, negotiating commercial agreements, and improving service levels across a geographically dispersed network.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives including market analysis, benchmarking, and supplier performance optimization.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies that balance cost, service, quality, and operational risk.
Own commercial negotiations and partner with legal teams to finalize, implement, and manage vendor contracts.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with operational and project requirements.
Establish and enforce best practices in contracting, strategic sourcing, and supplier governance.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers; manage ongoing supplier relationships and performance metrics.
Coordinate with operations, vendors, and leadership to ensure timely, complete, and cost-effective delivery of services.
Monitor compliance with contractual terms, pricing, and service-level agreements.
Ensure sourcing activities align with internal procurement policies and enterprise strategies.
Ability to travel up to 20% as needed. All travel would be with notice.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
MBA or advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement within a logistics, transportation, or industrial/manufacturing environment.
Proven success developing and executing category strategies for large-scale logistics spend.
Demonstrated experience negotiating complex, multi-year contracts involving commercial, technical, and legal stakeholders.Skills & Competencies

Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of an organization.
Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools (SAP, Oracle, and Power BI experience a plus).
Track record of delivering cost savings, risk mitigation, and supplier performance improvements.
