Purpose:This role reports to the SEC Reporting Director and works independently with peers and leaders across the organization to prepare and analyze the company’s SEC financial statements, management reports, and related financial statement disclosures to ensure their accuracy and integrity.
Accountabilities:
Prepare all SEC filing requirements for 10Q and 10K financial statements with a commitment to high-quality financial reporting
Perform US GAAP financial statement preparation and complex accounting calculations
Prepare consolidating and consolidated statement of cash flows
Coordinate work requirements and deadlines with internal departments and stakeholders
Research and resolve variances and inconsistencies noted in financial information by conducting initial analysis and applying accounting techniques
Ensure financial statements and supporting footnotes adhere to US GAAP requirements, including review of disclosure checklists to ensure compliance
Research and interpret SEC and US GAAP accounting disclosure guidance
Complete analytics for financial statements and related disclosures
Coordination and review of financial statement data to parent company for inclusion in the parent company’s 10Q and 10K, including appropriate eliminations of intercompany transactions
Tag 10Q and 10K financial statements with Inline XBRL
Implement US GAAP accounting policy for new and complex business transactions and/or accounting guidance updates
Assist with annual external audits and examinations including the preparation of work papers, analysis of data, and information gathering
Respond to other departmental or regulatory requests involving financial information
Assist with other finance projects as needed
Qualifications and Experience:
5+ years of relatable technical experience required
Experience in public accounting or in the insurance industry preferred
Strong background in technical accounting, with ability to understand and dissect complex transactions and the respective accounting treatment
Strong technical knowledge of SEC and US GAAP accounting and reporting requirements
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from research and report on findings
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient with MS Office products such as Word and Excel
Experience with Workiva’s Wdesk application preferred
Experience with Oracle, Essbase, and Hyperion preferred
Completion of or interest in obtaining CPA and/or FLMI designations preferred
Bachelors degree in Accounting required
