PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio healthcare jobs)
Contract Length: 13-16 weeks (travel nursing contract)
Start Date: January 12, 2026
End Date: May 4, 2026
Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
Setting: Corrections Health Unit (secure, locked unit)
Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts (Days: 07:00-19:30, Nights: 19:00-07:30), 3 shifts/week
Hours per Week: 36
Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1940 - $1990/week
Patient Population: Adult inmates with oncology and medical-surgical/telemetry needs
PCU RN Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact RN license or Ohio state license required)
Minimum 2 years of recent PCU, Medical-Surgical, or Telemetry nursing experience
Experience with EPIC electronic charting system
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and NIHSS certifications preferred
Oncology nursing experience preferred
Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
Ability to float to Oncology, Medical-Surgical, and PCU units as needed
Completion of Ohio fingerprinting/background check upon contract signing
Two professional references (one from a nurse manager, director, or supervisor)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver patient-centered nursing care in a secure corrections health environment
Float between Progressive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical, and Oncology units as assigned
Monitor and manage patients with oncology diagnoses, post-surgical care, COPD, sepsis, renal failure, and other acute medical conditions
Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
Administer medications, blood products, and manage IV therapies (central lines, peripheral lines, PICC lines)
Provide respiratory support (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy)
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and rapid response teams
Utilize Pyxis for medication administration and EPIC for clinical documentation
Participate in emergency response, rapid response, and code teams as needed
Maintain compliance with facility policies, infection control, and isolation precautions
