PCU Nursing Job Details
Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
Unit: 9 BSH Ortho Neuro Spine Unit (Med Surg/PCU)
Assignment Length: 13 weeks (January 12, 2026 – April 13, 2026)
Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
Hours per Week: 36
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1940 – $1990
Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
Orientation: 24 hours
Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Medical Surgical nursing experience
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact state (must be in hand at submission)
Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
Experience with telemetry and Epic EMR preferred
Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity within the hospital
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership)
First-time travel nurses welcome!
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality patient care to individuals recovering from orthopedic and neuro spine surgeries, including total hip/knee replacements and spinal cord injuries
Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage arterial and central lines, and administer blood products
Care for patients with tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and surgical drains
Administer and titrate cardiac and insulin drips as appropriate
Perform wound care, phlebotomy, and IV therapy
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
Float to other nursing units within the hospital system as needed
Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
Uphold infection control and isolation precautions
