Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust data solutions with a strong focus on creating data mapping and transformation solutions that support analytics, reporting, and enterprise modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in transforming complex datasets, integrating multiple systems, and building scalable pipelines while ensuring data quality and compliance. This role requires collaboration across technical and business teams to ensure data solutions meet organizational goals.

Other Duties Include:

Develop and implement comprehensive data mappings, cleansing, and transformation rules to support integration and migration initiatives

Conduct data profiling, assessments, and quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness

Design and build APIs and system interfaces using Java to connect multiple data sources and applications

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand source systems and business requirements into the technical design processes and design coordination documents

Work on data-related technical challenges while collaborating with stakeholders, including business, development and testing teams, to support their data infrastructure needs

Support the preparation and maintenance of technical documentation, including design specification reports and interface control documents

Gather, define and document systems and data requirements for applications to support overall modernization efforts and legacy system retirement

Build scalable solutions to connect legacy and modern platforms, supporting system modernization efforts

Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards

Stay ahead of emerging technologies and continuously improve system performance and resilience

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Requires minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Additional 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree

Expertise in data analysis, mapping, and large-scale transformation initiatives

Knowledge of API development, interface design, and system interoperability

Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and integration best practices

Strong programming skills in Java

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) with at least three consecutive years of U.S. residency from the date of legal entry as an LPR

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required MBI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with data modeling standards (e.g., UML, ERD)

Exposure to big data frameworks (e.g., Databricks)

Experience in legacy system modernization or migration projects

Active MBI Clearance

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
