Outpatient Nurse (RN)

A Brief Overview

The Outpatient Nurse (RN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice. The Outpatient Nurse is accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered in an outpatient setting that performs specialized procedures.

What you will do

Administer IV infusions, hydration therapy, biologics, antibiotics, and other non-chemotherapy medications as ordered by providers.

Assess patients prior to infusion, including reviewing health history, vital signs, and lab results.

Monitor patients during and after infusion for adverse reactions and respond promptly to complications.

Educate patients and families on infusion procedures, potential side effects, and post-treatment care.

Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Ensure infusion area complies with infection control and safety standards.

Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other team members to coordinate care plans.

Manage infusion supplies and assist with inventory control.

Adhere to organizational policies, Joint Commission standards, and state/federal regulations.

Education Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Nursing(ADN) Required

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing(BSN) Preferred

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience; infusion experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Strong IV insertion and vascular access skills (including PICC line management).

Ability to work with patients, families, physicians and other health care providers with a high level of customer service orientation, required.

General proficient PC skills and computer knowledge required.

Phlebotomy skills and experience preferred.

Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task required.

Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation in good standing with South Carolina Board of Nursing Required or

Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire and recertification every two (2) years Required

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Preferred
