Job Overview
Under the direction of a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager, the Project Engineer (PE) supports jobsite planning, productivity, safety, and efficiency. This role involves project administration duties and contributes to project coordination, communication, and overall operational success. The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, professionalism, attention to detail, and leadership in all aspects of project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a thorough understanding of assigned projects and serve as a primary knowledge resource for the team
Support project documentation and serve as a backup to the Project Administrator
Track project quantities and monitor their impact on revenue
Collect, organize, and maintain project documents using appropriate software
Communicate project changes to the team and management as needed
Assist with Requests for Information (RFI), including logging, tracking, and distributing updates
Support subcontract creation and purchase order preparation
Itemize and code invoices from vendors and subcontractors
Acquire and submit shop drawings; ensure alignment with contract documents
Coordinate submittals with suppliers, track progress, and maintain documentation
Track, price, and submit extra work items
Create and maintain project schedules
Prepare and submit closeout documents and as-built drawings
Attend internal and external meetings; communicate daily with jobsite leadership and other departments
Assist with estimating additional work
Prioritize tasks and deadlines with strong organizational skills
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, OR 2–4 years of construction industry experience, OR completion of a relevant internship
Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening (BWC Drug-Free Workplace; marijuana tested)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present information clearly
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple documents and files
Ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances on job sites
Ability to read and interpret technical materials and drawings
Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team
Ability to travel daily to the primary workplace and occasionally to off-site job locations
