PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Ohio nursing jobs

Assignment Length: 16 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 5/4/2026)

Unit: 12 East and West Surgical Oncology – PCU (mixed acuity unit)

Shifts: Day (07:00 – 19:30) or Night (19:00 – 07:30), 3x12-hour shifts per week

Hours per Week: 36

Estimated Weekly Salary: $1810-$1940

Orientation: 1 week Mon-Fri dayshift, plus 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor

Self-scheduling: Flexible scheduling for work-life balance

PCU RN Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience required

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or Ohio state license required at submission)

Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred

Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system required

Ability to float to other acute care oncology units as needed

Two professional references required (at least one from a nurse manager, director, or formal leader)

Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric surgical oncology patients (breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, plastics, orthopedic, and cardiothoracic surgery)

Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips

Respond to oncologic emergencies, including cytokine release syndrome

Provide chest tube care, tracheostomy management, and telemetry monitoring

Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias

Maintain infection prevention and fall prevention protocols

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and more)

Document all patient care in EPIC electronic medical records

Participate in self-scheduling and adapt to variable weekend coverage as needed
