PCU Nursing Job Details
Location: Columbus, Ohio (ZIP 43210) – Ohio nursing jobs
Unit: 8 BSH Neuro Surgery – Progressive Care Unit
Contract Type: Travel RN contract
Start Date: December 15, 2025
End Date: March 16, 2026
Duration: 13-week nursing contract
Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
Hours per Week: 36
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1940-$1990
Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
Float Requirement: Willingness to float to different hospital units
Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Rotating weeknights, weekends, and holidays
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required)
Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Medical-Surgical nursing experience
Travel nursing experience preferred
Graduate of ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
EPIC charting experience required
Ability to provide 2 professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leader)
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process after contract signing
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a neuro-surgical PCU setting
Manage patient ratios of 1:3-4 for safe and effective care
Float to various hospital units as needed
Utilize EPIC for clinical documentation and charting
Perform specialized procedures including lumbar drains and EVD monitoring
Administer blood products, cardiac drips, and insulin protocols
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, PT, RT, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy
Care for patients with neurological diagnoses: epilepsy, Guillain-Barre, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, stroke, traumatic brain injury
Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols
Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage
