LOCATION: Operating off the Coast of Newfoundland (NL), Prince Edward Island (PEI), Nova Scotia (NS) and New Brunswick (NB)

CONTRACT: Short Term Contract; Estimate One (1) Year

JOB SUMMARY: Chief Engineer is responsible for managing the technical department to execute the maintenance and monitoring of all machinery in a safe manner according to plans and procedures. He/She is also responsible for the up to date keeping of maintenance reports.
PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum 1 Year of experience working on a wellboat (live fish carrier)
STCW III/2 or STCW Approved M1 with Norwegian endorsement or STCW Equivalent
Good understanding of live fish handling
STCW Basic Safety (STCW VI-1.1, VI-1.2, VI-1.3, VI-1.4)
STCW Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW VI-3)
STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (STCW VI/2-1)
STCW Marine Medical Care (STCW VI-4.1, VI-4.2)
Seafarer Medical (STCW)
Designated Security Duties (STCW VI-6.4)
Fish Welfare Course
Cyber Security Awareness (DNV certified)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all machinery, including deck machinery and maintenance of this
Responsible for the stock of spare parts and ordering of parts
Shall make decisions if external service is required
Responsible for bunkering and delivering of sludge oil
Shall monitor stock of bunkers
Shall maintain the engine logbooks and the daily records according to requirement
Shall take part in tasks specified in the Emergency plan
Shall take part in deck-operations when needed
Shall prepare and file (hand over command) scheme for the relieving captain
Shall keep own list of rest hours, when regular sea watch keeping
Promote and encourage others in safe work practices and use of PPE onboard
Perform other duties as assigned
