Job overview

Our client is a major international organization in the mining sector, operating large-scale industrial facilities across Western Canada. They are known for their strong commitment to safety, asset integrity, engineering excellence, and reliability. The engineering team supports ongoing operations by ensuring that all structures within the facility meet strict internal and external codes and standards.

They are currently seeking an Structural Engineer for a one- year secondment to support site operations, structural integrity programs, and repair planning activities. This is a hands-on role requiring both technical knowledge and collaboration with operations, trades, maintenance teams, and external partners.

Responsibilities

Develop technical scopes of work and repair work packages for structural deficiencies.

Conduct structural inspections on-site and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.

Coordinate repair plans, working closely with trades, supervisors, planners, engineers, and operations teams.

Review structural designs to ensure compliance with building codes, industry standards, and client engineering specifications.

Maintain adherence to corporate structural integrity procedures and regulatory guidelines.

Support ongoing operations with troubleshooting, structural assessments, and field engineering needs.

Utilize structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, or equivalent tools.

Contribute to safety culture through strong safety awareness and leadership.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).

P.Eng or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering.

Experience in industrial settings (mining, potash, oil & gas, or heavy industry) is a strong asset.

Proficiency in structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, RISA, S-Frame, etc.).

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
