Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,470 – $2,540
Unit: Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU)
Unit Size: 20 beds; average daily census: 13
Patient Ratios: 2:1 (all shifts)
Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
PICU RN Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a 30+ bed PICU or CVPICU (CVPICU experience preferred; strong PICU experience considered)
Active Ohio or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (American Heart Association preferred)
Demonstrated proficiency in: arterial line management, chest tube care, intubation assistance, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, acute airway care, central line care, hemodynamic monitoring, high flow nasal cannula, IV vasopressors, pediatric dosage calculations, tracheostomy care, and pediatric critical care nursing skills
Experience with: congenital heart disease/repair, post-cardiac surgery, post-cardiac catheterization, ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD), ECMO (observation only), and CRRT (not expected to care for CRRT patients)
Two supervisory references required (at least one from a nurse manager or supervisor)
Willingness to float to NICU, PICU, Emergency Department (ED), stepdown, and med-surg units as needed
Must reside outside a 60-mile radius from the facility
Cannot have worked as permanent staff at this facility within the last 2 years
PICU RN Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric and cardiac patients in the CVPICU
Monitor and manage patients with complex cardiac and respiratory conditions, including pre- and post-surgical care, heart failure, and transplants
Utilize advanced clinical equipment and technology, including ventilators, VADs, and ECMO (observation only)
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including IV teams, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
Float to other critical care units as required, adapting to various patient populations and unit protocols
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold best practices in infection control and patient safety
Participate in orientation and ongoing training to ensure compliance with facility and healthcare standards
