Medical/Surgical RN Job Details

Location: Kearney, NE 68845 (Nebraska healthcare jobs)

Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/6/2025 – End: 3/7/2026)

Setting: Acute Care, Medical-Surgical Unit (23 beds)

Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:00–06:30), every other weekend, first to float, required overtime (2 additional shifts per 6 weeks), and holidays

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880 - $2020

Charting System: EPIC

Patient Ratios: 1:6 max (1:5 on weekday dayshifts)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license (Registered Nurse)

Minimum 1 year recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Ability to float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for Med/Surg assignments (unless telemetry trained)

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Willingness to work every other weekend and holidays (maximum one holiday off per contract)

Medical/Surgical RN Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to patients in the Medical/Surgical unit

Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress

Administer medications and treatments as prescribed

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans

Float to PCU as needed for Medical/Surgical assignments

Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records

Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives
