CVICU RN Job Details

Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940-$1990

Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Start Date: January 5, 2026

End Date: April 6, 2026

Location: Columbus, OH 43210

Healthcare Setting: Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)

Nursing Shifts: Day (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) and Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM); 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)

Weekend Coverage: Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period

Patient Ratio: 1:1–2

Floating: Required within units of equivalent or lower acuity

CVICU RN Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac ICU or CVICU nursing experience strongly preferred

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or Ohio nursing license required at submission)

Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

BLS and ACLS certifications required

NIHSS certification preferred

EPIC charting experience required

Previous travel nurse experience preferred

Ability to float to units of similar or lower acuity as needed

Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Two professional references required (one must be from a manager/director or supervisor)

CVICU RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill cardiac, vascular, and thoracic ICU patients

Manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies, including ECMO, VADs, IABP, Impella, and CRRT

Perform and monitor IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz catheterization, and conscious sedation

Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips

Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias

Assist with post-cardiac surgery care, including CABG, valve repair, TAVR, and transplant patients

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services

Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC electronic health records

Adhere to infection prevention and isolation protocols

Float to other nursing units as required, providing care within scope and competency
