Scope of Position
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Educator is responsible for providing personalized education by designing, developing, implementing and evaluating classroom and clinical instruction to support the orientation, ongoing educational and professional development needs of Advanced Practice Providers including coordination of the Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Program. The APP Educator maintains collaborative relationships with clinicians, departments/units, serves as an educational consultant and resource, and contributes to the development and achievement of goals for Medical Education and Staff Development.
Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider Educator is responsible to assess, plan, organize, develop, implement and evaluate education programs and learning activities designed to assist Advanced Practice Providers to acquire knowledge and skills to meet job requirements and regulatory standards. The APP Educator demonstrates expertise in staff education, advanced practice, care delivery and evidence-based practice. The APP Educator collaborates effectively with physicians, nursing and other disciplines to meet organizational and team expectations and to assure that staff can perform safely and independently for their assigned role functions. Responsibilities include: staff orientation, class development, instructor/faculty for courses, new product and equipment in-service, unit based in-service, educational needs assessment and ongoing competency of staff, and coordination of the APP fellowship program. The APP Educator incorporates current evidence based knowledge and skill in adult learning principles and clinical, educational, and professional standards of the practice of medicine. The APP Educator collaborates with all members of the health care team and serves as a role model and resource for patient care staff within the unit/department/institution and community.
Minimum Qualifications
Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio
Graduate of an APRN program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing
Master of Science Degree in Nursing
2 years of relevant experience required.
2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
OR
Masters Prepared; Graduate of a PA-C program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination recognized by the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA-C
2 years of relevant experience required.
2-4 years of relevant experience preferred
