OVERVIEW

Under the leadership of the Program Manager, the Coordinator of Refugee Services will work closely with Refugee Services program staff to plan and coordinate program activities. Overseeing procedures and client services for Federally funded employment programs, as well as perform employment-related activities, to help refugee clients find jobs and work towards the goal of self-sufficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise team of 1-2 Case Managers and/ or Program Assistants;

Ensure Team staff are productive, meeting all contract requirements as well as fostering a positive team environment;

Understands State and Federal program contracts in detail, ensures all contract requirements are met and opportunities maximized;

Responsible for meeting all programs reporting deadlines, ensuring reports and vouchers are complete and correct according to contract requirements and guidelines;

Teach small groups of clients’ basic workplace overview job preparation, interview skills and job safety requirements to enable them to be successful in the American workplace;

Foster strong working relationships with businesses, community-based organizations, and partner agencies; provides consistent communication with partner agencies to ensure coordination of services and development of job placement opportunities;

Work with targeted businesses and industries to develop potential worksites and employment opportunities for clients, negotiates worksite training agreements or special accommodations, monitors and tracks success following placement, serves as primary contact person and maintains database of current and potential business partners;

Assess experience, skills limitations of clients; identifies opportunities suitable for clients; assists clients in filling out employment applications, sets up interviews with potential employers, accompanies clients to interviews or arranges transportation; and

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree from and accredited institution, preferable in Human Services, Social Work or related discipline;

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate well, building relationship and partnership with USCRI clients, employment partners, state and federal program staff, headquarters and field office staff;

Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel and database programs, as needed;

Good Sense of humor and pleasant, diplomatic manner with the ability to get along with others and thrive in a team environment;

Demonstrated commitment to the mission of USCRI, and interest in contributing to the long-term success of a local nonprofit organization;

Must have a clean valid driver’s license and insurance, and a reliable motor vehicle; and

Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.

TRAINING REQUIREMENT

Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and

Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
