Farm Manager Trainee

Summary:

Canyon Falls Farm is seeking a high-potential Manager Trainee to join our farm leadership development program! In this role, the Trainee will assist the Farm Unit Managers in various technical and supervisory tasks in assuring the safe operations and maintenance in the assigned areas.

Responsibilities:

Assist management in the safe application of fertilizers and chemicals according to label, including calibration, maintenance, and accounting of their operations.

Learn techniques of irrigation scheduling which may include using soil moisture measuring equipment.

Maintain necessary maintenance records and become familiar with the operations systems/software.

Become familiar with the operation of pressure regulation valves and safely assist the irrigation department in troubleshooting electrical problems and making mechanical repairs to irrigation pivots.

Formulate dry fertilizer and mix liquid fertilizer.

Operate and perform minor equipment repairs.

Champion a best-in-class safety culture and ensure compliance with all policies and standards, per company, industry, and state regulations.

Recognize crop diseases and pests and prescribe corrective actions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or related field experience required.

Previous supervisory or management experience with 2+ years potato farming.

Valid driver's license. Ability to operate farm and heavy equipment.

Private Pesticide Applicators license required.

Equipped with quality tools to perform job duties safely and accurately.

Strong demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Meet the physical requirement of the role which involves but is not limited to heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, and twisting throughout work period. Stepping up, stepping down and kneeling required. Occasional long-term walking required. Wrist, hand, and finger movement that encompasses squeezing, rotating, and bending. Arm movement encompasses extension, raising and bending. Neck movement encompasses raising, rotating, forward, backward, and side to side.
