Scope of Position
The Vallejo Company is seeking an individual to join our team as a Directional Drill Operator for utility installation projects across Ohio. Depending on the division you may need additional skills in gas, water, sewer, asphalt, concrete as we provide full construction services. The successful candidate will operate directional drilling rigs to install underground conduit, fiber optics, and other utilities.
Essential Functions
Operate power equipment such as a directional drill, excavators, backhoes and front-end loaders to excavator or move dirt, rock, sand, gravel, or other materials
Knowledgeable with OUPS and utility line markings
Daily inspection and basic maintenance as required
Digs, spreads and levels dirt, gravel, or sand; and mixes, pours, and spreads concrete as needed
Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.
Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
Part of or willingness to join Local 18
Has teamwork, communication, and strong listening skills
Adaptable to changes and ability to problem-solve
Experience in the respected department you are seeking to join
Class A CDL - not required but HIGHLY encouraged
Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath. Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects. Adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects.
May be required to operate 40-hour machinery; if this is required for specific position providing additional information and proof of skills may be asked
Ability to lift minimum 50-75lbs
