Job Summary:

Alexandria Public Schools is seeking dependable and energetic individuals to serve as Substitute Kitchen Assistants. This position supports daily food service operations in our school kitchens, ensuring students receive high-quality meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Service

Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and state guidelines, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

Ensure food quality meets established standards.

Assist with setup and replenishment of production areas.

Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work and storage spaces.

Support daily food planning and communicate supply needs to the Kitchen Manager.

Sanitation & Safety

Follow all food safety procedures per Minnesota Food Code and child nutrition guidelines.

Clean and sanitize kitchen prep areas and dish room as needed.

Stock, rotate, and organize food supplies using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.

Maintain proper hygiene, dress code, and appearance per department and state requirements.

Customer Service

Serve meals promptly and courteously to students and staff.

Address customer concerns and report them to the Kitchen Manager or Director as needed.

Maintain confidentiality regarding students who receive free or reduced-price meals.Join Our Team!
