Job Summary:
The Finishing Operator will be responsible for finishing machined parts by setting up and operating manual and/or computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining all quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment/supplies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Reading blueprints, specifications, and drawings
Setting up various machines including tools changes and offsets, compensation and conditional switches
Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturers instructions
Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces while adhering to standards
Maintaining specifications by observing and taking measurements
Troubleshoot machine malfunctions, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Documenting actions by completing production and quality logs
Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publication, etc.
Communicating status of work orders and irregularities
Explore opportunities to add value in work area
Required Skills/Abilities:
Understanding work order, blueprints, control plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, critical surfaces/edges, and machining parameters while interpreting geometric dimension and tolerances (GD&T)
Understanding work instructions ad zero/reference points
Understanding of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
Positive and proactive attitude toward completing work orders
Willingness to learn and grow through Sun Hydraulics
Meeting commitments and obligations
Education and Experience:
High school diploma/GED required
Technical college degree preferred
2+ years' experience using production machinery
Experience working with a Mazak Star/Integrex or Swiss Lathes a plus
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing
Prolonged period of sitting
Ability to lift 50 pounds at times
