What Makes This Role Exciting:
The Helper supports welders and fabrication personnel by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting with production tasks to ensure efficient workflow in the shop or field. This role performs a variety of hands-on duties that support welding operations, fabrication work, and general shop productivity.
You'll be the backbone of our operation - every project depends on YOU!
YOUR MISSION (Should You Choose to Accept!):
Assist welders with positioning materials, parts, and assemblies for welding
Gather and stage materials, tools, and equipment needed for welding operations
Clean, grind, and prepare metal surfaces prior to welding
Remove slag, spatter, and excess material after welding operations
Operate basic shop equipment such as grinders, hand tools, and material handling equipment
Assist with loading and unloading materials and fabricated components
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Report safety concerns or equipment issues to supervisors immediately
Work collaboratively with welders, fitters, and other shop personnel
Perform other related duties as assigned
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Education: High school diploma or GED, preferred (but your attitude matters more!)
Experience: Previous shop, fabrication, or construction experience preferred but NOT REQUIRED - We believe in potential!
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Are You Ready for Action?):
Vision: Adequate to read measurements, identify markings, and observe welding work areas
Hearing: Able to hear and respond to safety alerts and communicate in a shop environment
Equipment Operation: Able to use grinders, hand tools, and material handling equipment
Carrying: Able to occasionally carry materials and tools up to 50 lbs
Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
Confined Space: Able to enter and exit confined spaces as required
Heights: Able to work at heights up to approximately 15 feet using ladders or platforms
Pushing/Pulling: Able to move equipment, carts, and materials
Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time
Walking: Able to walk throughout production areas, around machinery and uneven surfaces
Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel when retrieving materials or assisting with fabrication work
