Job Summary:

The Transmission Line Engineer designs, analyzes, and maintains high-voltage electrical infrastructure, including overhead and underground lines to ensure reliable power delivery.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and/or support the initial project execution layout to ensure an efficient and effective project plan has been established;

• Manage engineers, drafters, and designers on small to medium sized engineering projects and interface directly with the client;

• Responsible for creating and maintaining a project schedule and budget;

• Facilitate weekly or bi-weekly project meetings to clearly outline upcoming deliverables and tasks with responsible personnel identified;

• Coordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings as necessary;

• Maintain project workflow and thorough communication across multi-discipline projects, both internal and external to the company;

• Forecast upcoming project requirements to assist in resource planning;

• Facilitate and adhere to the company and the client's QA/QC procedure to ensure the correct personnel is performing the required QA/QC review;

• Maintain project status reports for project managers;

• Provide weekly or bi-weekly project updates and project forecasting;

• Lead and/or support Project Manager by meeting with clients, both in-person and remotely;

• Support resource forecast planning for upcoming and current project loads;

• Provide business improvement methodologies and procedures;

• Discuss project and/or department personnel conflicts, performance issues, and collaborate on a suitable approach to constructively provide a successful resolution.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Basic or Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in a closely related discipline;

• Five (5) years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior civil design experience;

• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues;

• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design;

• Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements;

• Knowledge with process and concepts for reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gas;

• Knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements;

• Availability and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;

• Availability and ability to work overtime based on project needs;

• Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer In Training Certificate

• P.E. license

• Electric utility industry experience

• Experience managing projects and leading multi-disciplined teams

• Design experience up to 230 kV

• Distribution design experience

• At least 3-years of experience using POLE, TOWER and FAD Tools software packages

• At least 3 years of experience using PLS-CADD

• Transmission line routing

• Transmission foundation design

• Transmission structure load and design

• Cost estimating and scheduling

• Experience using L-Pile and Microsoft Projects or Primavera (P6)

• 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred

Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private Office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations;

• Field duties require outdoor work in a construction site type atmosphere;

• Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;

• Working on a construction site or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels

• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;

• May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;

• May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):

• Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;

• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;

• Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;

• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;

• Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
