Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college, offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts Position Summary: The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds.
The Program Specialist position will report to the Director of HVAC and the Executive Director of Workforce.
This position will also work in close collaboration as a partner with the Director of Community Education.
The Program Specialist role supports community, international, newcomer, immigrant, and incumbent worker students along their pathway from ELL programs to HVAC and green energy careers.
The specialist understands the newcomer experience and the support students need to study and succeed as green energy HVAC professionals.
This full time position supports students in multiple ways.
The specialist serves as the primary ELL to HVAC instructor, HVAC lab assistant, and soft skills job coach, and works with the director as a corporate ambassador for students.
The specialist also works in close coordination with the HVAC Director and participates in all HVAC meetings and Green Energy convenings.
Career support is a key component of this role.
The specialist ensures that apprenticeship and job applications and placements are completed, works with the director to bring in industry professionals to host workshops, and collaborates with colleagues in corporate partnerships to host two career fairs each year.
The specialist also ensures students have the required credentials, soft skills, and equipment needed for success in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: * Support program and student with ELL- Green Energies pathway requirements; * Develop and support new programming HVAC and Green Energies; * Facilitate new engaging career events, industry-informing kiosks, community fairs HVAC and Green Energy Technology; * Develop new relationships with partnerships to help community and constituents understand our ELL to Green Energies HVAC Pathways; * Meet 1:1 with ELL pathway students as touchpoints; * Collaborate with Director, career department and colleagues in workforce development; * Work with students to understand and anticipate their needs and expectations from each course module; * Ensure all compliance with program certification requirements are completed by each student; * Expand community awareness about jobs in HVAC; * Work with director, executive director and data administrator to build successful outcomes; * Develop systems within the workplace to inform more community members about ELL to HVAC and Green Energies pathways; * Monitor all student compliance and attendance and provide referrals to wrap around supports as needed; * Experience tutoring students from non traditional backgrounds; * Ability to create content for career pathways for ELL to Green Energies HVAC; * Accept training from SNAP E & T and TOPS administration with MassHire; * Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to worksites.
Must work onsite at Framingham HVAC lab at least 4 days a week.

Required Qualifications: * Experience supporting nontraditional adult learners in an educational program; * TEFL Certified with experience and ability to teach ELL, create curriculum and evaluate student outcomes; * Interest in Green Energies, Environment and HVAC; * Ability to engage with external constituents from various backgrounds; * Ability to travel regionally; * Support students to succeed on their educational journey from ELL to HVAC Career Certificate; * Direct Student support; * Facilitate hours of tutoring at Framingham HVAC lab and online; * Problem solve across multiple systems both education and industry; * Experience working with community resources and barriers around transportation; * Ability to create enthusiasm and momentum around ELL learning, Green Energies and HVAC technology; * Experience offering direct services that support constituents with long term goals.
Preferred Qualifications: * Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action; * Experience working in a community college or similar environment; * Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need; * Interest in ELL, Student services; * Experience with workplace learning; * ELL Student coaching or advising experience; * Bilingual (Brazilian Portuguese or Spanish).
