SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
Mesh Optical Technologies was founded on the belief that optical photons will be at the center of advanced technologies in the coming century. Making advanced technology ubiquitous means building at scale, and that's exactly what we're doing at Mesh.
Our products integrate precision optics and advanced packaging backed by electrical systems designed for performance, signal integrity, and production scalability from day one. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical development across the platform-owning architecture, design, and validation of complex high-speed PCB assemblies while building the evaluation and test infrastructure required to release products to production. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role spanning product design, system validation, and production readiness, working closely with product, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Architect and design complex multilayer PCB assemblies for high-speed optical hardware, including power distribution, high-speed serial interfaces, control and monitoring circuits, and debug access
Define electrical system architecture for new products, making key trade-offs across performance, signal integrity, thermal constraints, manufacturability, and testability
Lead signal integrity strategy and controlled impedance design; own SI/PI analysis and simulation workflows to close design margins prior to fabrication
Own board bring-up, validation, and system-level debug workflows, including development of repeatable bring-up procedures for production use
Architect evaluation platforms for new silicon, optics, and interconnect components, defining the electrical infrastructure needed to characterize and qualify new devices
Define electrical validation strategy and compliance coverage for high-speed SerDes and other critical interfaces
Develop automated end-of-line test and firmware flashing infrastructure in collaboration with firmware and manufacturing engineering teams
Partner with manufacturing to ensure DFM, DFT, and production robustness; review designs for assembly yield, test coverage, and field serviceability
Analyze yield trends and electrical failures to drive root-cause investigation and corrective action, feeding findings back into design guidelines and production processes
Contribute to electrical design standards, documentation practices, and review processes across the engineering organization QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline
6+ years of experience designing complex high-speed hardware systems, with proven ownership of electrical design through production release
Strong schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout experience (Altium or equivalent), including dense, high-layer-count designs
Deep understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and high-speed interface design (e.g., SerDes, PCIe, Ethernet, DDR)
Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, VNAs, TDR, BERTs, and advanced debug workflows
Experience leading board bring-up and resolving system-level hardware issues across electrical, firmware, and mechanical boundaries
Experience working directly with manufacturing teams and driving production readiness, including DFM and DFT reviews
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience in optical, photonic, semiconductor, or high-performance computing hardware development
Experience developing automated electrical test infrastructure for production or characterization environments
Familiarity with firmware flashing and debug workflows (JTAG, SWD, ISP) and comfort collaborating closely with firmware engineers on bring-up and production programming
Experience mentoring engineers or serving as technical lead on hardware programs
Scripting experience for test automation, data analysis, or measurement post-processing (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB)
Experience with SI/PI simulation tools (e.g., Ansys HFSS, SIwave, HyperLynx, or equivalent)
Experience with rigid-flex, high-density interconnect, or RF PCB design
Experience with EMC/EMI design practices, regulatory testing, and compliance certification
Familiarity with configuration management, PLM tools, and engineering change processes for production hardware COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Senior Electrical Engineer: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year
