Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Columbus nursing jobs / Ohio healthcare)
Unit: 6 Doan Hall, Labor & Delivery — High Risk Obstetrics
Assignment Type: Travel Contract (travel nursing job)
Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour (07:00 – 19:30), 36 hours/week
Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,050–$2,160/week
Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Adolescents, Adults (perinatal nurse / OB nurse experience)
Facility Beds: 13
Daily Census: 10
Weekend Coverage: Required
Orientation: 36 hours
Required Qualifications — Labor & Delivery RN
Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN experience caring for obstetrics and high-risk patients
Valid RN license: compact or Ohio state license in hand at submission (RN / Registered Nurse)
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP required; NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced
EPIC charting / EMR experience required (EPIC experience)
IV start and L&D clinical skills required (IUPC, cord sampling, neonatal care)
Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
Previous travel nursing experience preferred (travel nurse, travel RN)
Ability to float to Antepartum and other inpatient units as needed
Two professional references required (one from manager/director or formal leadership; Charge RN acceptable for second reference)
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities — L&D / High-Risk Obstetrics
Provide comprehensive Labor & Delivery nursing care for high-risk obstetrics, including triage and perinatal assessments
Assist with sterile speculum exams, triage of obstetrical patients, spiral electrode and external/internal fetal monitoring (EFM)
Perform IUPC placement and calibration, maintain central lines, and support breastfeeding and lactation care (perinatal support)
Assist with cervical cerclage, tubal ligation, and antepartum management when indicated
Conduct NSTs, reflex checks, sterile vaginal exams, and interpret telemetry/EFM strips; recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
Administer blood products, start/maintain IVs, manage infusion pumps/drips, and provide magnesium sulfate and Pitocin therapy
Circulate and recover in C-sections, support vaginal deliveries, multiple births, and manage postpartum hemorrhage
Assess APGARs, collect cord samples, manage radiant warmers and neonatal thermoregulation, and provide neonatal support
Provide pain management support including epidural anesthesia monitoring and wound/incisional care
Float to other units within the organization as needed and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (OB/GYN, neonatology, anesthesia)
