Senior Estimator

Location: Dublin, OH (On-Site)

Job Summary

Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support preconstruction and project planning for commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, coordinating subcontractor bids, and developing value engineering solutions to support competitive and accurate project proposals.

The Senior Estimator plays a key role in defining project scope, evaluating market pricing, and supporting the successful planning and execution of construction projects across multiple sectors.Position Impact

This position serves as a critical contributor to the preconstruction process by ensuring accurate project costing, identifying value engineering opportunities, and supporting strategic decision-making during project planning. The Senior Estimator works closely with project leadership, subcontractors, architects, and owners to ensure estimates are comprehensive, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for:Cost Estimating & Project Analysis

- Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and outline specifications for new projects.

- Investigate project design requirements, building codes, agency regulations, and owner expectations to properly define project scope.

- Develop and maintain accurate unit pricing and cost databases reflecting current market conditions.

- Analyze construction drawings and specifications to prepare comprehensive project estimates.

- Perform detailed on-screen takeoffs to quantify materials and labor requirements.

- Review, analyze, and correct estimates prepared by other team members when required.Preconstruction Planning & Value Engineering

- Develop value engineering solutions that improve cost efficiency while maintaining project quality and scope.

- Research specified materials and identify viable alternatives when appropriate.

- Assist in developing preliminary preconstruction schedules.

- Evaluate project staffing requirements and general condition costs.

- Prepare qualification statements to clarify scope assumptions or items that may require additional review.Subcontractor Coordination & Bid Management

- Develop qualified subcontractor bid lists for project estimates.

- Solicit bids from subcontractors and actively engage them to participate in the bidding process.

- Analyze subcontractor proposals, scopes of work, and pricing for accuracy and completeness.

- Evaluate competing bids and determine appropriate scope coverage.

- Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors to support successful bid coverage.Client Communication & Presentation

- Prepare professional cost presentations and supporting documentation for project stakeholders.

- Present estimate information to clients, owners, and internal leadership.

- Maintain strong working relationships with project owners, architects, and project teams throughout the estimating process.Must-Have Qualifications

- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in construction estimating.

Experience estimating projects in one or more of the following markets:

Multi-family residential

Commercial construction

K–12 education facilities

- Demonstrated ability to lead and complete full project estimates independently.

- Experience performing detailed on-screen quantity takeoffs.

- Strong knowledge of construction materials, project scope development, and market pricing.

- Experience coordinating subcontractor bidding and analyzing bid scopes.

- Ability to evaluate project requirements, including general conditions and project staffing needs.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to present cost information clearly to clients and project teams.Preferred Qualifications

- Experience developing value engineering solutions for construction projects.

- Experience working closely with owners and architects during the preconstruction phase.

- Experience preparing cost presentations and preconstruction documentation.
