Material Handler (Forklift Operator)
Location: Houston, TX (77040)
Compensation: $18.00/hour + 11% Shift Differential for 2nd Shift
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Weekend and Overtime availability required)
1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
2nd Shift: Starts at 1:30 PM
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Material Handler to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in comprehensive warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving, palletizing, staging, and inventory management. Success in this role requires the ability to operate both stand-up and sit-down forklifts efficiently while maintaining a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Material Movement: Load, unload, and transport materials within the plant, yard, or worksite using forklifts, electric dollies, hand trucks, and carts.
Logistics Coordination: Interpret work orders and oral instructions to determine material needs and ensure timely delivery to designated areas.
Data Management: Utilize scanners and ERP systems to record material transfers between locations or to the assembly line.
Inventory Control: Count, weigh, and record units moved; attach identifying tags or labels to cases, bales, or containers for accurate tracking.
Equipment Care: Responsible for the daily inspection and care of forklifts, laptops/scanners, and other material handling tools.
Facility Support: Maintain a clean work environment and use hand tools (steel cutters, crowbars, hammers) as needed to process shipments.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a warehouse or related logistics environment.
Equipment Expertise: Proven ability to operate both stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
Technical Proficiency: Ability to use RF scanners or ERP software to track inventory.
Adaptability: Capacity to follow complex instructions and adapt quickly to changing production demands.
Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical tasks including lifting, stooping, and carrying materials throughout the shift.
Education: High school diploma or GED

Company Description
RECYCLING CENTER: Must be comfortable working in outdoor environment. This is a janitorial cleaning/ recycling role. Must be okay with working in an environment that at times can be dirty.
