HIGH SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY TEACHER
A High School Construction Technology Teacher instructs students in building techniques, safety standards, and tool usage through a blend of classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory work. They develop curriculum covering carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and blueprint reading while maintaining a safe, organized shop environment and teaching industry-standard skills.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum: Develop and deliver lessons in building techniques, materials, and safety, including 1-on-1 instruction and hands-on projects.
Safety Management: Enforce OSHA standards and ensure safe operation of power tools and machinery.
Project Supervision: Supervise students in building projects, including residential or commercial construction simulations.
Record Keeping: Monitor student performance, submit grades, and maintain inventory of materials and equipment.
Mentorship: Advise students on career paths in the construction industry.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of hand tools, power tools, building materials (wood, steel, concrete), and MEP systems.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to teach construction drawings, specifications, and schematics.
Communication: Ability to communicate technical skills clearly to high school students.
Education & Qualifications
Experience: Significant industry experience (often 2+ years) is required.
Certification: Valid teaching license or vocational/technical certification.
Education: A high school diploma is necessary; a bachelor's degree is preferred but an associate's degree or industry certification is often acceptable for vocational roles.
Physical and Environmental Demands
